Zhao Jiu

Zhao Jiu (b. 1989, China) is a contemporary artist based in Beijing whose practice explores the intersection of traditional Chinese aesthetics and contemporary visual language. Trained at Tsinghua University, she develops works that reflect a rigorous dialogue between historical sensibilities and modern perception.

Her practice engages landscape, memory, and symbolic imagery as evolving fields of reflection, where abstraction and structure coexist to form contemplative visual spaces. Drawing from classical cultural references, Zhao reinterprets inherited forms through a contemporary lens, allowing past and present to resonate within a unified pictorial language.

In recent years, she has presented solo exhibitions in Shanghai, Beijing, Ningbo, and other cities, as well as participated in major international art fairs and institutional exhibitions in London and Rome. Through an ongoing exploration of form, symbolism, and perception, Zhao continues to construct a poetic and reflective visual world rooted in cross-cultural dialogue.
