Teresa Rao (Macao)

Teresa Rao is a Singapore-based artist raised in an artistic family. She received formal training at the Central Academy of Craft Art, establishing a strong technical foundation early in her career. Her practice explores the relationship between visual art and social culture.

Since relocating to Singapore, Rao has developed a distinctive Neo-Nanyang Realism style, integrating cross-cultural perspectives with tropical imagery and regional aesthetics. Her recent works feature vibrant, high-saturation colour palettes and often use animals as emotional motifs, combining realism with symbolic expression.

Rao has participated in numerous exhibitions across Singapore and the Asia-Pacific region, receiving awards at international art festivals. Her solo exhibition Dream of Nanyang was presented at Gallery 1819.
